Our women’s artistic squad is by invitation only and it is compulsory that all gymnastics in the squad compete. The groups within the squad range from development to compulsory elite groups.
Our development groups are for the young gymnasts aspiring to compete at county, regional and national level competitions. The gymnasts will be aged between 4 and 7 years old. These gymnasts will usually train between 5 and 9 hours per week. They will be introduced to friendly competitions early on to enable them to gain competition experience.
The gymnasts will then move on to train in either club, national or compulsory grade groups, depending on what we feel is most suitable for their ability and commitment levels. The gymnasts in these groups will train between 9 and 20 hours per week depending on their level.
Many of the gymnasts in these groups will be invited to county or regional squad training. It is expected that gymnasts will attend these squads if they are invited.
These groups involve a lot of commitment from the gymnasts and their families. It is very important that the gymnasts are well prepared for training. This means that nutrition is extremely important. Advice and tips on nutrition from British Gymnastics can be found on the following link:
